Sandals South Coast is located on the most pristine two-mile stretch of white-sand beach on Jamaica’s south coast. Also know as “Sexy South Coast”, the resort blends the exotic allure of the Caribbean with the refined elegance of the European villages inspired by France, Italy and the Netherlands.
South Coast is one of six Sandals Resorts located in Jamaica. These all inclusive adults only resorts provide more inclusions than any other brand but each of them are unique in their own way.
South Coast is set on a 500-acre nature preserve; making it one of the most beautiful in my opinion. The resort provides 3 large pools, 2 swim up bars, 4 whirlpools, a Venetian piazza with shops and restaurants, nine 5 star global gourmet restaurants and 7 bars including Latitudes over-the-water bar.
Disclaimer: We have visited Sandals South Coast 4 times – Twice for FAM trips (as we are Sandals specialists), once with a group trip, and once just as normal paying guests. As usual, all opinions are our own.

Why Choose Sandals South Coast
Water is the inspiration for everything new at South Coast. It is Jamaica’s only all-beachfront resort meaning all of the rooms and suites are beachfront, overlooking the the beautiful turquoise sea. The over-the-water bungalows feature water on all sides.
The bar Latitudes sits over the water and provides unique hammocks suspended over the sea. And of course the Over-The-Water Serenity Wedding Chapel offers a one-of-a-kind wedding venue. If you love to be beachfront then Sandals South Coast is definitely the resort for you.

Sunrises and Sunsets
Another unique feature of Sandals South Coast is that it provides breathtaking views of both sunrise and sunset. Located on the south coast of the island on a point, the sun literally rises on one side of the resort and sets on the other.
Latitudes over the water bar is my preferred location to watch the sunset. Grab a drink, settle into one of the suspended hammocks and watch the sun set on another day in paradise as you listen to the waves lap below.

Over-the-Water-Bungalows
There are 3 Sandals Resorts that offer over-the-water-bungalows – The Grande St Lucian, Royal Caribbean and South Coast. The ones at South Coast are my favorite. Inside all of them are pretty much the same. The difference is accessibility and water depth.
The bungalows in St Lucia (the Grande) are very close to the resort and to land so the water depth is very shallow. The ones at Royal Caribbean are over deep water but are only accessible by boat. The bungalows at South Coast are the best in my opinion. Located over deep water, making it perfect for jumping off and swimming; plus they are accessed by a walkway instead of a boat.

Inside the Over-the-Water-Bungalows
Every bungalow captures the height of luxury with hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings and custom crafted king size beds. There are also glass floor panels and lit water underneath to ensure you can enjoy undersea views at any time. The private patio is equipped with an extended sun deck, outdoor shower, sun loungers, a bistro set, a tranquility soaking tub for two and an over the water hammock.
Our time in the bungalow was a fairytale dream come true. We were fortunate enough to be in one of the bungalows facing directly to the sea with our backs to the resort. Even though we were only a short walk from the resort, we felt miles away in our own world. The elite butler service, the in room menu, the robes and the amenities were all upgraded from what is received in the other butler category suites.
We chose to savor all of our meals on the outdoor patio over the sea and enjoyed the sunsets from the tranquility soaking tub. Each night before bed we would watch the fish swimming under us. The bungalows are the perfect upgrade to a destination wedding, honeymoon, anniversary or other special occasion.

Swim up Suites
The newly renovated Dutch village offers swim up suites in Club and Butler categories. These spacious suites give you swim-up pool access right from the private patio. They also provide views of the pool and ocean. The patio lounge chairs are perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. Located in the water a cool refreshing plunge is only inches away. The patio also includes a bistro set for two perfect for room service and a signature tranquility soaking tub with privacy curtain.
We enjoyed being able to swim into the pool straight from the room and to take a nighttime swim before bed.

Swim-up Rondoval Suites with Private Pool
Another new addition to Sandals South Coast is the South Seas Rondoval Village. This village includes 20 rondoval swim-up suites nestled on the longest swim-up pool in the Western Hemisphere. These secluded first-of-their-kind suites are located in the resort’s lush gardens and offer a supremely romantic experience. Float around the river returning to you suite or plunge into your private pool directly off the bedroom.
Butler service comes with each of these suites providing an over the top experience from beginning to end. The soaring conical ceilings inside make the suites feel open and spacious. The bathrooms provide a peaceful retreat with a large, solid stone soaking tub for two with an independent walk in rain shower. There is also an outdoor shower just steps away from the private pool.

We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary in one of these suites and it is now our second choice suite; just behind the over the water bungalows.
Every morning we would wake up to a text from our butler stating “breakfast is served”; a service you can request when you book the Rondoval option. From the bed we would make our way to the bistro set on the patio where we would find our table set for two with everything we ordered including coffee and mimosas. It is truly the most relaxing way to start any day on vacation.

Entertainment at Le Cabaret
Out of all of the entertainment areas at Sandals, Le Cabaret is one of my favorites. The indoor facility includes a stage, a bar and plenty of seating. The nightly shows are different each night of the week but they are all phenomenal. With some of the best dancing and singing in the Caribbean, there was so much talent on display. The floor area directly in front of the purchasing wine from the manager’s selection wine list. Upon arrival you will find your wine chilled and your name on the reserved tag.
Other nighttime entertainment includes weekly beach parties, fire dancers, white out nights, silent headphone parties and more. The playmakers work day and night to keep guests entertained during their stay. South Coast has some of the best bartenders in Jamaica. Not only to make the perfect drink but they provide entertainment as well.

Weddings at South Coast
Over-the-Water Serenity Wedding Chapel
The over-the-water wedding chapels are located at 4 of the Sandals Resorts; Montego Bay, the Grande St Lucian, Ochi and South Coast. The glass floor aisle panels and 360-degree panoramic water views make the chapel the most unique wedding venue available. Inside you will find a comfortable seating area for guests and an area completely customizable for any dream wedding. Outside there is a wrap around balcony with railings and a palm leaf covered roof.
The open-air design is my favorite aspect of the chapel. Providing a true paradise wedding feel, the doors can be opened on all sides. You can book the over-the-water chapels with your Sandals wedding planner; and are available for a fee of $750. They are the perfect upgrade to your free wedding at Sandals.

Restaurants at Sandals South Coast
Giuseppe’s
Giuseppe’s makes guests feel right at home. With inviting indoor and outdoor seating, this cozy Italian restaurant brims with genuine Tuscan charm. Dine amid the candlelight ambience of its outdoor terrace or step inside for a taste of warm, old country allure. Here you will find the joys of Italy in the Tuscany-style antipasti bar featuring unique appetizers. From pizza to pasta, to tempting desserts, the food at Giuseppe’s is the main attraction.
Jasmine’s
Discover Pan-Asian enchantment as Jasmine’s showcases the colorful flavors of the Orient. From the vaulted ceilings to the beautifully textured walls, Jasmine’s Asian-inspired decor features a sensual ambience and intimate dining space for two. Specializing in pan-Asian cuisine, the chefs at Jasmine’s take pride in preparing menu items using the exotic spices and flavors of the Far East. This is one of my best-loved restaurants on the resort – the atmosphere and the food are spectacular.
Cafe de Paris
Cafe de Paris is open from 6am until 11pm serving fine Parisian treats. When the cafe concept was first introduced in Paris in the 17th century, people fell in love with the feel of the cafe, which over the years became a place to relax. Cafe de Paris replicates this vibe perfectly. Flowers, bright colors and lovely patio furniture adorn the outside. Inside you will find signature and customizable crepes, ice cream, speciality coffees and milk shakes.
My favorite treat is the cookie crumble. It includes ice cream, a chocolate chip cookie, coffee, Bailey’s Irish cream and ice blended together for a sinfully delectable treat.
Eleanors
Back in colonial Jamaica, Lady Eleanor made her name in history and became known as the best cook in the Caribbean. Eleanor’s cuisine at South Coast is served in an atmosphere reminiscent of Eleanor’s very own great house dining room. The enchanting, old-world charm of Eleanor’s captivates guests from the moment they walk through the doors. The delectable cuisine inspired by this 18th century matriarch leaves a lasting impression with a calypso of flavors such as Tamarind grilled beef tenderloin, roasted pumpkin soup, Caribbean grilled lobster, Jamaican jerk chicken, West Indian curried lamb and Rasta pasta.
Bayside
The Bayside restaurant represents the culinary diversity of an equally diverse locale. With flavorsome Caribbean cuisine, guests from near and far can enjoy Bayside by day for buffet-style breakfast and lunch and an exquisite a la carte dinner in the evening. Bayside’s terrace overlooking the pier and Caribbean Sea is charming. Watch the sailboats pass by during the day or enjoy the sunset at dinner. Bayside is perfect for any meal of the day.
Schooners
Located on the waters edge near the French Village and the over-the-water-bungalows, Schooner’s get’s my vote for best restaurant location on the resort. With the mesmerizing water views and a tantalizing menu of authentic Jamaican recipes; all your senses will be overcome with joy at Schooner’s. Lunch is served beachside, bringing a sense of relaxation to every dish. As the sun sets over the sea, the ambience shifts to pure romance where the stars, candles, and tiki torches light the night and the waves softly lap against the shoreline.
My favorite lunch dish is the Jamaican beef patties and for dinner the surf and turf. The views from the table make every dish that much better.
Neptunes
Casual European elegance and Mediterranean flair combine at Neptunes. Traditional delights such as feta lamb kebabs, tzatkiki, and saffron-infused Bouillabaisse will tantalize your taste buds. From the table you will marvel at the sea vistas just within reach, the sweeping views, the inviting and laid back atmosphere and the divine desserts. This is also one of my favorites for late nights after hours or entertainment.
The Jerk Shack
It’s not Jamaica without authentic jerk chicken. The jerk shack is located on the beach directly in front of the Italian Village. The views are fabulous and the food as authentic as it gets. You can choose between jerk menu includes pork, chicken, sausage or a combination of the three.
My favorite menu item is the fish in foil with festival (traditional fried dumplings). The fish is cooked with peppers, onions and seasonings; and is the most flavorful fish I have eaten anywhere.
Sushi on the Sand
Sushi on the Sand is a seaside restaurant offering fresh sushi rolls, sashimi, salads and more along with beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea.
We enjoy sushi almost every evening on resort as an appetizer before venturing to another restaurant for our main course. However, we have been known to become so full that the sushi becomes dinner. In that case we head straight to Cafe de Paris for dessert.

What is really included at an all inclusive Sandals Resort? Everything.

As a foodie the unlimited dining with no restrictions is one of my favorite inclusions. There are no checks, no tipping, no drink tabs, no pre-set dining times and no charges for speciality restaurants. It really is all included.
