The Best Restaurants in Savannah – Local’s Guide

Living in rural Georgia means we enjoy a slower pace of life and the peace that comes with country living. The one downside is the lack of great dining options nearby. Luckily, the best restaurants in Savannah are just an hour away – and with over 300 full-service spots, the city has become a true foodie destination.

We visit a few times a month to try new places, though we often find ourselves returning to old favorites because the food is just that good. Below are our top picks, listed in no particular order.

Most of the food pics are by our friend and fellow travel agent, Toy Allen, who often comes out for lunch with us in Savannah!

Best Restaurants in Savannah – From a Local

The Chive Sea Bar & Lounge

The Chive Sea Bar and Lounge, Savannah

When we want something light and fresh for lunch, The Chive Sea Bar & Lounge is our place.

The Tuna Ceviche is our favorite. The ingredients are always fresh, and the presentation is perfect each and every time.

The staff are always very attentive and engaging.

Coco and Moss

Another one of our favorite lunch spots, especially when want sushi, is Coco and Moss. Payton loves their sushi rolls, and she usually orders several when we dine here.

They are more well known for the poke and warm bowls, with our favorite being the Laos Lemongrass. It’s perfect for a day when you don’t want a heavy meal but still want something filling.

Green Truck Neighborhood Pub

If you’re a burger fan, you must visit Green Truck Neighborhood Pub. They use a 1/3 lb of grass-fed beef along with fresh ingredients to make a burger that tastes as good as it looks. You won’t leave here hungry!

If you aren’t a burger fan, try the pimento cheese and make sure you add bacon to it!

This is another favorite lunch spot and gets really crowded around noon. Try to arrive a little early to make sure you get a seat.

Husk Restaurant

We usually dine at Husk for special occasions, as this restaurant is a bit pricier. We’ve always had awesome food and excellent service here, so to us, it’s always worth every penny.

It’s also been one of the only places we’ve been able to find caviar service in Southeast Georgia. Definitely one of our top dinner choices in Savannah.

Olympia Cafe

Located in the heart of the downtown area of Savannah, the Olympia Cafe is a great place to dine and then spend some time shopping at the nearby stores and shops that River Street is known for. My personal favorites are the Octopus and the Saganaki.

A bonus for eating here is that Wet Willies is very close by. They specialize in frozen alcohol drinks with one of the most popular being the “Call-a- Cab”.

Six Pence Pub

Six Pence Pub, Savannah

If you are a Bangers & Mash lover, you should make a stop at the Six Pence Pub. All of their house specialty dishes are very hearty and filling.

This is one of our favorite wintertime lunch spots. It’s a very cozy pub that appeared in a famous movie many years ago. If you go there and ask the bartender, you’ll get the full story.

Make sure you check out the beer selection while you’re there.

Byrd Cookie Co.

A visit to Savannah isn’t complete until you make a stop at Byrds Cookie Co. They’ve been making cookies since 1924, so they’ve had plenty of time to perfect their recipes!

Try the Georgia Peach cookies. You won’t be disappointed!

The Peach Cobbler Factory

We recently discovered this gem while on a shopping trip a few weeks ago.

They have a flight of desserts (cobblers/puddings) that lets one try 4 different flavors at once. Also on the menu are brownies, Belgian waffles, Churro Stix, cookies, shakes, and cinnamon rolls.

Of course, you have to try the peach cobbler and yes, you will love it!
