Hike Stone Mountain
We featured Stone Mountain as a fall destination for the Pumpkin Festival, but hiking Stone Mountain and exploring that area is a great thing to do for Spring Break too. The weather isn’t too hot yet, and the crisp days make for beautiful sunsets.
There is plenty to keep the family occupied, from mountain hikes to fun at the Stone Mountain Park. Discover the covered bridges and natural beauty of the area, go fishing, and relax!

Our favourite hotels at Stone Mountain are the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort, which is in the park; or the Hampton Inn nearby.
Beach Fun at Tybee Island
Nothing screams Spring Break in Georgia like a fun week at the beach. Tybee’s golden sand, lively pier, and fun downtown are perfect for a family getaway. For sunset lovers, nothing beats a beachfront apartment with a balcony overlooking the vast horizon.
There are also lots of historic sites around Tybee, so there is much to keep a family occupied. Fort Pulaski is a great way to learn about the military history of the American Civil War. It is one of our highlighted stops on any tour of the East Coast of the USA.

I recommend a beachfront property if you can. Try the Beachside Colony at the north end of the beachfront. Or Hotel Tybee (pictured in the right of the photo below).
Get a taste of Bavaria in Helen
Helen is a place that, once you discover it, you just keep coming back to – there is just so much to do in Helen! The delicious Bavarian slant on the town leads to some excellent restaurants, and even their own Oktoberfest events. In the spring, you get perfect temperatures for exploring the Unicoi State Park, fishing in the Chattahoochee River for trout, bass and catfish, and visiting the shops of local artisans.

Taste the Adult Grape Juice in North Georgia
Ok, so this activity is a little more for the adults in your family; but when in North Georgia, you can’t miss out on the fantastic wines on offer!
After extensive research (*hiccup) we have put together all the information you need to take a self-guided wine tour in Georgia. This Spring Break, why not stop by one of the many wineries along the wine highway and enjoy the adult grape juice produced in the area.
Lookout Mountain
Lookout Mountain sits on the Georgia / Tennessee border; but we have included it in the list of family fun things to do in Georgia this Spring Break because it really does have something for everyone.
From the Fairyland Caverns, which bring fairytales to life for the little ones; to the incredible gardens and views at See Rock City, Lookout Mountain has activities for the whole family. Don’t miss the Incline Railway and Battles for Chattanooga Museum.

For a B&B right in the heart of the action, try Chanticleer Inn Bed & Breakfast. Or for a bit of fun, head over into Tennessee and stay at Chattanooga Choo Choo, a hotel set in the old railway station – you can even sleep in an old train car!
A City Break in Savannah
We live near Savannah and visit regularly. We love the history, the incredible food on offer, and the riverfront. If you’re looking for a fun city break with loads of historic sites, family friendly activities, as well as great restaurants – Savannah is the place for your Spring Break!
