Minnehaha Falls
Minnehaha Falls runs into Lake Rabun, and the short hike runs up the lefthand side of Falls Creek is short and easy for families. The waterfall is only about a quarter of a mile off the road, and the dense forest is a beautiful framing for this tiered cascade. Minnehaha Falls and trail is dog-friendly.
Enjoy the Lake Rabun Recreational area for a picnic afterwards, and stay the night at Lake Rabun Hotel.

Toccoa Falls
Toccoa Falls is one of the tallest falls in the east of the USA – at 186 feet high, it is a very impressive waterfall to visit. It is actually located on a college campus, which makes it a very accessible and family-friendly activity – however this does mean there is a charge of a few dollars to view. It is pet friendly.

Anna Ruby Falls
Anna Ruby Falls is one of the most provisioned and accessible falls and recreational areas near Helen. Located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Anna Ruby Falls is a great hike and day out. These magnificent twin falls are on Smith Creek, which ends at Unicoi Lake.
There is a paved trail for people with visual impairments, and signs in both normal text and braille.

DeSoto Falls
Desoto Falls is north of Dahlonega, so it would well as a combined day trip. There are 3 waterfalls along about 3 miles of trails, lower, middle, and upper DeSoto Falls. The three falls offer three distinct falls types, and are a popular option for weekend campers.

Dukes Creek Falls
A key location in the Georgia gold rush, Dukes Creek Falls Recreation Area is easily accessed from the Russell-Brasstown National Scenic Highway. The hike is around 2.3 miles, as you hike down to the falls viewing areas. You should give yourself about 1.5 hours to hike this trail. With gorgeous views of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Dukes Creek is one of our favorite waterfalls near Helen.
