Beaches Turks : A Kid’s-Eye View

On a recent visit to Beaches Turks & Caicos, we were asked if Payton would write about her experiences at the resort. Naturally, given how we have raised our daughter, travel is a fundamental part of her education; as well as our way to celebrate milestones with her. Therefore it wasn’t hard to convince her to write this review of Beaches Turks, offering a kid’s-eye view of her experience at this family-friendly resort.

Beaches Resorts for Kids : Turks & Caicos

Beaches Turks is located in Providenciales, which is in the island chain of Turks and Caicos. The Beaches Resorts are for everyone, kids and adults, and Beaches Turks and Caicos includes activities for all ages.

I have been to this resort twice. The first time I celebrated my twelfth birthday there. I have also been to the other two Beaches Resorts in Negril and Ocho Rios in Jamaica. 

Beaches Turks Layout

Beaches Turks and Caicos is a huge resort with the French village, the Caribbean village, the Italian village, the Seaside village and the Key West village, where families can stay. There are also 21 dining options, stores, swimming pools, a playground, and a huge waterpark! 

My preferred village is the Italian village, because it’s close to all the activities, it’s right next to the water park, and it also has a big pool. I also like the layout there and the overall design is very elegant. My second favorite is the French village because it has an amazing pool, some of the best restaurants, and it’s also right next to the water park.

I absolutely LOVE the overall layout of Beaches at Turks & Caicos. It’s easy to get to places, there’s helpful maps; and if you ever get lost, just ask a friendly staff member and they will give you directions. 

Also, the resort is very safe. It’s gated and I’ve always felt safe walking around by myself, and my parents are okay with me doing so.

Waterpark & Pools

The waterpark has lots of slides, some for younger people and some for older people, a little kids’ park, a splash pad, and a lazy river. 

Some of the dining options in the water park include the ice cream and milkshake truck, Bobby Dee’s Diner, and even a macaroni and cheese truck. Kids can even order mixed juice drinks at the swim-up pool bars.

My favorite slide is the tall red slide because the first quarter of it is closed in with lights inside. You need a float to go down this slide and the big yellow slide (another favorite), but you don’t with the blue slide.

I really like the pool bars where you can get something to drink and enjoy it while you’re in the water. Also, there’s water activities for people of all ages and sizes!

Watersports & Beach

The resort is located right on the beach in Grace Bay; one of the top beaches in the world. The sand is soft and white, and the water is so clear you can see your feet underwater! It looks a pretty shade of teal from a distance.

There are many water sports activities included at Beaches Resorts such as kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, water trikes and glass bottom boats. One of my favorite excursions from the beach is the sunset catamaran cruise with snacks and good music! 

Food for kids at Beaches Turks

Some of my favorite dining options there are Neptune’s, which is a seafood restaurant; Soy, a sushi restaurant; Le Petit Chateau, a French restaurant; and Cricketer’s, a pub. There’s a huge variety, so you can try all kinds of new foods. You can even go to a few restaurants in one evening!

My family usually goes to one place for an appetizer, another place for dinner, and Café de Paris for dessert. The resort is all inclusive and unlimited, so you can try whatever you like! 

Traveling to Beaches Turks

It’s not a long flight from Miami, Florida; and it only takes about 15 minutes to get to the resort from the airport. Once you get there, they’ll give you a damp towel scented with lemongrass and bring you and your family to your room in whatever village you have chosen.

Autism Certified

Beaches Turks is an autism-certified resort, as are all Beaches Resorts. Which makes it a great place for families with autistic kids like me. They are also Sesame Street themed. You will get to meet the characters, have breakfast and do activities with them, and they will even perform their own show every night at 6:30pm. Every night, after the Sesame Street show, there are also other shows performed, with a different theme every night. The Hollywood themed show was our favorite!

Club Liquid

Club Liquid is a nighttime dance room, with certain hours reserved for kids, others for teens, and other for adults. There’s music, comfy furniture, and a dance floor with colored lights! 

Disclaimer: The music can sometimes get pretty loud. I’ve been to Club Liquid twice, and the first time, the volume was okay; but the second time it was way too loud. The lights aren’t too bright, though, and they didn’t bother me.

Swings

One thing I did notice at Beaches Turks and Caicos, is that they don’t have a big playground with swings for big kids. Swings are a great way to relax after a busy day of activities for some kids on the spectrum like me. I really wish Beaches Turks and Caicos would install swings for all ages.
