The Best Restaurants on Eleuthera, Bahamas

The Bahamian out-island of Eleuthera is not only full of beautiful beaches and scenery but the island also takes pride in its abundance of remarkable dining experiences. The eateries featured below are some of the best restaurants on Eleuthera, and just a fraction of what the island has to offer. That’s why you need to visit Eleuthera and experience it for yourself.

Tippy’s Restaurant and Beachside Bar

Tippy’s Restaurant and Beachside Bar is definitely our “go-to” when staying at Pineapple Fields. A very short walk away, it’s located on the beautiful Poponi Beach (which may even sometimes be referred to as “Tippy’s Beach”).

Tippy’s serves both lunch and dinner, and the menu boasts a variety of great dishes. Since the options may change daily, the servers carry the chalkboard menu to each table for you to decide. Whether you’re in the mood for a good pizza, conch fritters, or surf and turf, Tippy’s has you covered.

Let’s not forget the entertainment – visitors can hear live music from local artists like the High Rock Band, typically on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Shania Twain has even paid a visit and made a brief performance with the locals.

Oh, and the sunset from Tippy’s and the beach there are absolutely postcard perfect.

Buccaneer Club Restaurant

Also located  in Governor’s Harbour, is the family-owned Buccaneer Club Restaurant. The Buccaneer Club serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

As one would expect, customers can indulge in tasty Bahamian dishes (you HAVE to try the Bahamian mac and cheese). In addition, the restaurant also serves Jamaican-Asian fusion dishes. The sweet and sour chicken is highly recommended.

The Buccaneer Club’s menu also has several vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free choices.

On any given evening, you can enjoy live entertainment, like Stone McEwan, “The One Man Sensation.”

LaBougainvillea Restaurant

LaBougainvillea is another resort in Governor’s Harbour that is home to LaBougainvillea restaurant.  This beachside farm-and-ocean-to-table restaurant has some of the most spectacular views ever.

The restaurant offers special themed nights such as “Taco and Jambalaya Tuesdays” and Thursday “Pizza Night.” While it’s all open-air, I love the fact that the restaurant has a covered bar and dining area, and then a more open area to dine as well. LaBougainvillea can easily accommodate larger parties for a group dinner or celebration.

Squires Village

Squires Village is a wonderful little bistro that serves a variety of coffee from cappuccinos to cold brews. They also serve light bites such as wraps and sandwiches.

While you are there, you can browse the gift shop that offers a variety of island keepsakes.  Its front porch is so inviting and visitors can even say ‘hello’ to the chickens that roam freely in the neighborhood.

The Fig Tree

For an outstanding fine dining experience, The Fig Tree, serves lunch and dinner. Guests can expect an Asian Fusion cuisine full of flavor in a beautifully decorated restaurant and can even enjoy outdoor dining under the trees with a view of the beautiful courtyard.

The Fig Tree is on the property of the Pot Latch Club, which was renovated and recently reopened in 2024.   The original Pot Latch Club, was THE place for east coast socialites to escape their busy lives back in the 1960’s and 70’s.

Anchor Bay Fish Fry

Held every Friday in Governor’s Harbour, the Fish Fry is an event that every visitor must experience.  You may want to get there early because the BBQ chicken and rum bubbas are always in high demand and you definitely don’t want to miss out on the peas and rice. Add some lively entertainment along with watching the sunset across the harbour while you hang out with the locals and you just can’t get any better than that.

El Karaka’s Glass Window Bar and Grill

El Karaka’s Glass Window Bar and Grill is our first stop AND also our last stop when flying into North Eleuthera.  As you may have guessed from the name, it’s located right by the famous Glass Window Bridge, a unique spot where you can see the rich blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the turquoise waters of the Bight of Eleuthera on the opposite side.

When you sit down at the bar and look out over the water, all worries seem to dissolve in that Bahamian blue water. The staff is super friendly and they make you feel right at home, so whether you are just grabbing a drink or enjoying an entire meal, you will leave with a full heart.

1648 – An Island Restaurant

Located at French Leave Resort in Governor’s Harbour, 1648 – An Island Restaurant, is a great choice for a delightful evening out.  The backdrop is breathtaking and the menu covers everything from pasta and seafood to pizza.  As far as appetizers are concerned, the Conch Rangoons and the Johnny Cakes are certainly worth sampling!

Guests have the option of dining indoors or outdoors.

Harbour Pointe Restaurant

On the southern end of Eleuthera, you will find Cape Eleuthera Resort and Marina. Harbour Pointe is the on-site restaurant that overlooks the marina and the beach area.  Guests can choose from indoor or outdoor dining.

If you are visiting the island and looking for a place to stay down south, then Cape Eleuthera offers several options and if you have a boat, there’s a full service marina. Just book your slip, stay, and relax.
