Tasting Notes
Our sampler box arrived with 14 cans and 1 bottle and there were 2 of each flavor of canned beer. For extra fun, I invited my Uncle Steve over to taste test these with John. All opinions included here are theirs and theirs alone. I was the note taker as John and Steve began to sample each brew…
Razooka Jane Sour Ale
They both agreed that this one was their favorite. Made by Odd13 Brewing in Lafayette Colorado, this is a ‘smoothie’ style beer.
Steve: Light and refreshing! A good pool side beer.
John: Clean aftertaste, thirst quencher, resembles a seltzer water!
Tradewinds Tropical Wheat
Tradewinds Tropical Wheat beer is made by Flying Fish Brewery, based in Somerdale, New Jersey.
Steve: Light, hints of pineapple, summertime beer.
John: Light and fruity. Very refreshing! Excellent choice for beach trips, camping, etc.
Baby Unicorn Dust Hazy Pale Ale
This one wins for the best name! This pale ale is made my Barebottle Brewing Company based in San Francisco, California.
Steve: Large combination of flavors. Interesting brew.
John: Interesting. Plethora of flavors, very light.
Citra Whimsy New England Style IPA
The 4 Noses Brewing Company is based in Broomfield Colorado. Their single hopped Citra Whimsy pairs well with light fresh food like salmon and tacos.
Steve: A hoppy beer, citrus flavored. Good beer for a hops lover.
John: Perfect for a summertime camping trip, lakeside or by the river. Refreshing.
Most is Most Quadruple IPA
This robust quadruple India Pale Ale is made by Anchorage Brewing Company.
Steve: Very strong! Good for those that like a hearty beer.
John: Strong, somewhat bitter. Very robust! Proceed with caution!
Single by Choice Citra New England Style Pale
Another craft beer hailing from Colorado, this New England style pale ale comes from New Image Brewing, a micro-brewery in Arvada.
Steve: Slight ginger flavor, bitter, but interesting.
John: Piney flavor, a bit overpowering for those who don’t like hops. For those that prefer a hoppy beer, this one is for you!
Waves of Silence Imperial Stout
This stout from Fort George Brewery in Astoria Oregon is truly unique. Each batch is slightly different and is stamped with a codename so that you can track the changes / your favorites!
Steve: Very heavy aftertaste. Creamy finish.
John: If you like Guiness, you will love this one! Not a beer for novices. Perfect for a cold, snowy evening!
Speedway Coffee Stout
This was, by far, the heaviest of the beers in the craft beer gift pack from Tavour Beer. From Alesmith Brewing Company in San Diego, California; this stout has coffee in it too!
Steve: Toffee and caramel mixture, very thick and creamy!
John: Heavy on the tongue. Candy flavors of toffee and caramel. Lingering aftertaste.
