Taking a helicopter ride in St Lucia is an amazing way to see the Pitons and the beauty of the island. If you are staying at one of the Sandals resorts on St Lucia, you can book a helicopter ride from the airport to the resort – taking in the best views of the Pitons on the way.
You can also book an independent helicopter ride if you want to see more of the islands. Talk to us when booking your Sandals vacation and we can add the excursion at the time of booking!

A Helicopter Ride in St Lucia
Best View of the Famous Pitons
The famous Pitons of St Lucia are a sight to behold from any viewpoint. The dormant volcanos are majestic and beautiful and the most well known landmark of the island. The Pitons can be viewed by land through hiking and exploring. They can also be viewed from the water since they are located on the southwestern coast. However, in my opinion, the most breathtaking views of the Pitons are the birds eye view from the air. The helicopter tour of St Lucia was an experience I will never forget.

North Island Helicopter Tour
The North Island helicopter tour includes views of Castries (the capital of St Lucia), major beaches and hotels, Cap Estate homes, the rugged Atlantic Coast, Pigeon Island, the Rodney Bay Marina and Rat Island. Total flight time is around 10 minutes and includes pilot commentary of the history and current island information.
Did you know that Rat Island was once a quarantine facility for small pox victims and can be seen from Sandals Halcyon?

South Island Helicopter Tour
The South Island helicopter tour includes views of Castries, Marigot Bay, St.Lucias’ fishing villages, lush rainforests, interior mountain, the Pitons, the Soufriere Volcano, coral reefs, diving sites, waterfalls, rivers and valleys. The total flight time is 20 minutes and includes pilot commentary on history, banana facts, rainforest features, indigenous species, geological features and must visit places.
Did you know that 90% of the cocoa beans produced in St Lucia are exported to Hershey, Pennsylvania?

Other Excursions Around St Lucia
Soufriere Experiences
The town of Soufriere is very popular for excursions. Home to the world’s first drive-in volcano there are multiple experiences available here. Some of these tours include catamaran cruises, speed boat tours, snorkeling, dining and more. However, they all include a mineral rich mud bath and a dip at Toraille Waterfalls.
These tours range from 4 hours to all day depending on the activities you include. The tour I chose included a speed boat tour, the famous mud bath in the drive-in volcano, a refreshing break at the waterfall, lunch and snorkeling. It was one of my favorite excursions in St Lucia.
Deep Sea Sport Fishing
Fishing is very popular in the Caribbean and so is the deep sea fishing excursion. This tour is approximately 4 hours and provides a chance for you to try your skills at reeling in a blue marlin, wahoo, mahi-mahi, tuna, and sailfish, just to name a few. The experienced crew will provide you with the best opportunity to land a prize. Drinks are provided on board just make sure to bring your camera or phone to catch a photo of the big one.
Outdoor Adventures
St Lucia, often referred to as the Hawaii of the Caribbean, is an outdoor lovers paradise. There are so many excursions to choose from on the island. Zip lining, ATV rides, horseback riding, rainforest hikes, waterfalls, volcanos, sailing, snorkeling and more are waiting for you.
